Malena Henderson's Notes On:
What started as a great way to get "aligned" with life, business, and relationships, my husband Matt and I purchased tickets the moment they went on sale.
Unfortunately, Matt and our dog Marty ended up not being able to make the trip. So, this became a solo adventure for me into the unbelievable world of GrowthDay!

First activity in the AM should be our OWN agenda; don’t let inbox or DM’s “direct” your day
Be clear on your agenda and motivation
ACTIVATE mind first, then ALIGN body
High performers feel stress differently b/c they generate joy, confidence, etc., more often
They feel the stress but move through it vs. get into the “pit”
Proactively summon best self vs. reaction
Avoid survivalist mindset; “How do I summon the best of me today?” vs. “How will I get through this day?”
Hand on heart - “I want to feel better”
"The worst thing you can do is believe you know what you are capable of"
We don’t know our true capabilities; “YOU DON’T KNOW!!!!”
Self learning is ongoing vs. returning to known limits (falling into the “pit”)
To Ascend, accept the fact that we don’t know our own limits
We are trained to look BACK
Give someone a resume, evaluate self based on past performance
“Past performance does not predict future performance” - actual law written in job posts
“What you do not bring forth within will destroy you."
Big Bang created life but process took billions of year
We might have a suffer in the heat for a bit to experience the “big bang”
I am unique; one of one. Just be the best version of our unique me
“Faith in the forward position”
Trust things will line up for you - take action
Play to the future, not past (like a quarterback)

Motivation defined as "the reasons for action" - not just enthusiasm or pleasure
Gratitude = high motivation
Complaint = low motivation (quick trip into the pit)
Value
Don’t value it enough; “I value my security over my growth”
What we value we go get - “go getters” progress & follow through
Need to re-evaluate each day (goals, priorities, dreams)
Evaluation of Possibility
Do I believe the thing I want is possible?
Choose possibility vs. cutting the cord
“I can grow into things” vs. “I can’t do that”
Identity
Do I believe it’s possible FOR ME? “Can I do it?”
"It’s possible to build a bridge but can I build a bridge?"
Problem is we only go after what’s convenient vs. possible
Risk vs. Reward
Think risk is too high b/c basing on current skillset (identity) vs. basing it on its possibility
Sometimes we just don’t know what to do (worry/fear)
Most times the worry never comes true
If something seems too far away, we lose motivation
We usually underestimate what we can accomplish in 5 years
Internal question - could I have done 30% more over the last 5 yrs?

Boss Babe - 4 million followers, community members that started with Instagram quotes
Thought of creating membership area while attending a Brendon Burchard event
Walked away from successful business on Zoom call after hearing daughter crying in the other room; “Is this why you built your business?”
Returned to work but her values changed; “you have to fit back into the same company but you’re not the same person”
Identified herself as a people pleaser, saying “yes” when meant “no”
Decided to try business again with with her core values; “my way” - used sticky notes to remind herself
A business should be built around personal values vs. what a community needs
Success doesn't have to equal sacrifice
The clearer your values, the quieter external pressure becomes
Can’t make decisions based on “outsourcing”, or comparing ourselves to others
When you remind yourself of your values, you stop comparing
Value Based Decision > Ego Based Decision (FOMO, comparing)
Clarify - identify values based on when I feel most energized
Own - embody those values
Reinforce - create routines to always realign on values
Evaluate - every 3 months
Create boundary scripts (Seth Godin email example - “I don’t invest, I don’t take pictures, and I don’t go to meetings. How can I help you?”)
When feel out of alignment, probably away from your core values
Values help overcome ego-based decisions
Share authentic self with like-minded people
Legacy built on "things we do when no one is looking"

Productivity Strategies
Make time for a weekly planning session; look ahead to the week, maybe month
Brendan does full month planning on Sundays
Ask myself “do the things on my calendar reflect my values?”
Recalibrate and realign when they do not
"Done by one" - complete priority tasks by 1pm then get to everything else
Daily Prioritized Action (DPA)
Not just action; action that moves the needle
Revenue generating activities; health improving activities
“Did I get it done by 1, or did I spend 2 hours scrolling?” “Did I get it done by 1, or did I just start to reply to my inbox?”
Checking the inbox means checking out of the agenda
"Inbox is nothing but a convenient organizing system of other people's agendas"
Checking messages puts us in reaction mode, not progress mode
Be strategic about what needs our attention (prioritized tasks vs. distracted scrolling)
Remember, it takes 20 mins to get back into flow after an interruption (so 15 mins of scrolling is actually much longer)
Filter out the 80% to focus on the 20% that matters
Not about being a "morning person" - done by one means by 1pm
Need to "awaken faster" - not just wake up but get mind/body engaged
Activation techniques: movement, breathing exercises, caffeine
